Salzburg’s Altstadt (Old Town) Garage has been the main car park in the heart of the city since 1975. Built into the Mönchsberg hill, it combines convenient parking with easy access to the city’s main attractions, including the Festspielhaus, Getreidegasse and numerous shops, restaurants and hotels.
In addition to the Altstadtgarage, the Salzburger Parkgaragen Gesellschaft also operates other attractive car parks throughout the city.

From 1 July 2026, new summer traffic regulations will apply in parts of Salzburg’s city centre. A ban on through traffic for day visitors is intended to limit heavy transit traffic.
Brighter, wider, safer
The newly renovated exit and entrance to the Altstadtgarage A car park at the Bürgerspital was recently reopened after a short renovation period. Further refurbishment and modernisation measures will also follow in 2025.
